Jurisdiction:

                   The District Employment Office with Head Quarters at Tuticorin started functioning from 18.10.1986 as per G.O.Ms.No.266 Labour and Employment, dated 17.10.1986.

                   The present Jurisdiction of District Employment Office, Tuticorin covers the following Taluks:

  1. Tuticorin
  2. Ottapidatam
  3. Vilathikulam
  4. Kovilpatti
  5. Srivaikuntam
  6. Sathankulam
  7. Tiruchendur
  8. Ettayapuram

 

There are Two Municipalities, One Corporation and Twelve Panchayat Unions which come under  the Jurisdiction of this office.

                   This office performs the normal functions of an Employment Exchange such as Registration, Renewal, Placement of job seekers Vocational Guidance Programme and conducting free coaching classes for the registrations of this office those who are appearing for various competitive examinations being conducted by T.N.P.S.C, R.R.B., B.S.R.B., etc.

SPECIAL CELL FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED APPLICANTS

 

                   G.O.Ms.No.228 Employment Services dated 25.08.1991 a Special Cell for the Rehabilitation of Differently Abled applicants in the District of Tuticoirn in functionary from 22.11.1991. This cell is responsible for registering and placing the Differently Abled applicants.

Unemployment Assistance Scheme for Differently Abled Applicants

 

          As per G.O.Ms.No.43 Social Welfare and Nutritious meal progaramme Department dt:24.02.2010, the Unemployed Differently Abled Youths who are registered in this office and waiting for more than one year from the date of registration would be eligible for unemployment assistance for 10 years. The details are as below.

          There is no ceiling for family income. The eligible candidates may apply directly to this office. The beneficiaries should also open a savings Account in any one of the Nationalised Banks.

          The Unemployment Assistant Application form may be obtained in this office at free of cost or by downloading from our web site : www.tnvelaivaippu.gov.in.

          The amount of unemployment assistance to each candidate is being sent through nationalized Banks by electronic clearing system (ECS).

          As per G.O.Ms.No 72 Labour and Employment (R2) dt. 25.08.2006.  The Unemployed youths who are registered in this office and waiting for more than 5 years  from the date of registration would be eligible for unemployment assistance for 3 years. The details are as below.

1. Graduates/Post Graduates             :        Rs.300/-Per Month
2. HSC/PUC/Diploma Holders              :        Rs.200/- Per Month
3. SSLC                                              :        Rs.150/- Per Month
4. SSLC Failed                                    :        Rs.100/- Per Month

AGE LIMIT:

 1. SC/ST                                            :        Upto 45 years
2. BC/MBC/Others                              :        Upto 40 years

          The total income of the family of the candidate should not exceed Rs.50,000/- per annum. The eligible candidates may apply directly to this office alongwith a certificate from Revenue Inspector. The beneficiaries should also open a savings Account in any one of the Nationalised Banks.

          764 candidates have been registered their qualification in this office from 01.01.2013 to 31.03.2013 and 2,04,051 candidates are waiting in the Live Register of this office as on 31.03.2013.

PLACEMENT

 

                   84 registrants of this office were placed in various Government Departments from 01.01.2013 to 31.03.2013.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICE/ EMPLOYMENT COUNSELLING PROGRAMMES

                   Vocation Guidance Unit housed in this office which is headed by a District Employment Officer (YES) to carry out the various Vocational Guidance Activities.  This unit is responsible for registering the applicants.  Special type of applicants are interviewed by the District Employment Officer (YES).

Private Placement Programme:
Providing Employment in Government sectors to all there waiting on the Live Register of Employment exchange is not at all feasible.  Hence in this office an alternative method of placing candidates in employment in private sector has been launched by organizing placement campaign called ‘Employment Mela’ (Velaivaaippu Santhai) which is being conducted on second Friday of every month.

STUDY CIRCLE

                   As per G.O.Ms.No.106, Labour and Employment Department, dated 20.07.1999, Study Circles are functioning for the benefit of job seekers those who are appearing for various competitive examinations conducted by T.N.P.S.C., R.R.B., B.S.R.B., etc., in the following center.

District Employment Officer (General) who is the head of office is responsible for organizing and implementing the EMI Programme in this District.

  3. Security and occupational codification.
  4. Preparation of consolidated reports.
  5. Preparation of statistical statements.
